Don McEntire took an unconventional route to becoming a real estate brokerage firm owner on Maui. After graduating from college at the University of Utah he began teaching Spanish and coaching basketball at the high school level. He says, "I really enjoyed teaching Spanish and coaching basketball but it didn't pay very well. So I began looking for ways to supplement my income and I started investing in real estate. In a short time I was making more money from my part-time investing efforts than I was from teaching and coaching full-time." That was more than 30 years ago so he obviously made the right career decision. He went from investing in real estate to assisting others with their real estate investments, and eventually became a top producing sales agent, and then later opened his own real estate brokerage in Salt Lake City, Utah. However, he found it increasingly difficult to leave Maui after visiting relatives on the island, only to return home to colder weather. He recalls "Maui completely enchanted me from the very first visit. I used to tell people that I would move here someday but nobody believed me until I did it." He further explains, "I grew up in a cold climate but I really got tired of the cold weather. I love living on Maui. Sometimes I'm overwhelmed by the good fortune of being able to live and work in one of the most beautiful places on earth.”

Kim McEntire has been actively licensed on Maui for over 22 years, selling and/or managing real estate. Kim reluctantly moved to Maui as a teenager with her family, thinking that she would return to the mainland upon turning 18. But, of course, she fell in love with Maui and decided to stay forever. Kim and Don met on Maui while practicing real estate, when one of Kim’s clients purchased one of Don’s listings. Fifteen years later they are now the proud parents of a beautiful and talented 12 year old daughter named Kaya. Kim is an amazing mother, and watching her and Kaya interact together is one of the most heartwarming things you will ever witness. But Kim also excels at managing and selling real estate, and she is a partner and a driving force behind McEntire Realty’s business success.

Jordan McEntire grew up on Maui and attended Seabury Hall high school where he was the student body president during his Senior year. Jordan is likable and friendly, but also determined and focused. He received both academic and leadership scholarships to attend college, but after he graduated from college with his degree he moved back to Maui to live and work in paradise. He says his time away from Maui while in college was difficult because he always felt Maui calling him and he craved returning as soon as he could. Now Jordan is firmly planted back on Maui where he belongs, and he is a licensed broker and the primary property manager for McEntire Realty, even stepping up to be the Broker-In-Charge during Don & Kim’s 2-year travel sabbatical. Jordan has two adorable daughters named Amara and Zarya (Don’s only grandchildren).

Kaya McEntire has been given the title of “Ambassador of Cuteness", and she does an excellent job as such. She has been featured in our real estate ads, and she is often present with her mother at an Open House or a short-notice showing. In reality, she thinks she is the boss and it is difficult to argue that point with her. But what a blessing to be able to take orders from such an adorable young lady. She still has a few years before she will be able to officially obtain her real estate license, but that doesn’t mean she can’t start getting trained in "the McEntire way.” Look for this up-and-coming real estate superstar in the next decade.
